6 – 10 Feb 2012
It began when Fatem, Aisha and Dayah bought flight tickets for four of us to Tawau, Sabah late in 2011. I had no idea what they were planning at that time, so i just followed since the tickets were cheap. (Yes, thanks to AirAsia Big Sale!). Plus, i didnt join their previous trip to Kuching at the very last minute, and so this time i had no excuse not to go.
We departed from LCCT on the 6th of February ’12. Still, at this point of time, i was like, “What’s with Mabul Island?” not knowing what to expect. As i was busy with my work, i had no time to think of this vacation and what more, to do some research on the place we were about to go. In fact, it was Fatem and Aisha who arranged everything.
On the first day, we went straight from Tawau Airport to Semporna which took about 1 hour. We headed to Dragon Inn, just near the jetty. The place was good enough for one night stay.
It was actually quite difficult to find a good place to eat in Semporna. We walked around the pekan area under the super hot sun in search of a good restaurant only to find that there wasnt so much options.
On the second day, we went to the island by boat. It took us about 1 hour to reach ScubaJeff lodge with Fatem and Aisha aiming to get their diving license. As for me,dayah and taz, we just snorkeled at Paradise 1, Lobster Wall and Garden.
Definitely, Mabul Island is one of the best islands for diving. The visibility of the water according to my friend is way higher than those islands in Peninsular (Perhentian, Tioman etc).
This picture was taken at Kapalai Resort bridge, 20mins walking distance from ScubaJeff. The place is soo nice, that everyone started dreaming of having a romantic scene there ;) It was so calm, peaceful and windy. The water is crystal clear, we even saw a turtle that night.
We made a promise to come back to this island. Me and dayah will have to get our diving license this year, so that we will all dive together ! That’s our promise :)
Dear Mabul, till we meet again :)
